こんにちは、ハナです！ 日曜日は彼のお誕生日なので、今回は私をとても尊敬しているキング牧師について話させていただきました。

キング氏が生まれてきたアメリカでは、黒人や少数民族に対する差別が酷くて、特に南部アメリカ、白人と黒人は同じ施設などを使ってはいけない法律さえもありました。

本人は、黒人であれ、白人であれ、人間はみんな一緒だと強く信じて、博士号を取得したら、公民館運動にかかわり始めました。 ガンジーのやり方を見習って暴力を一切使わず、平和的に抗議活動に励みました。警察に逮捕されたり、家に爆弾を投げ込まれたりしても、黒人だけではなくて、差別を受けているアメリカ人全員のために積極的に戦っていきました。

彼のおかげで少数民族を守る法律がいくつかできて、アメリカ国民の意見も変わりました。

Hi, this is Hannah! This month’s topic was one of the figures I respect most: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

King was born in America, during a time of extreme discrimination  toward minorities, and even laws that black and white people may not use the same facilities in the south.

He felt that, whether black or white, all humans are the same, and got involved in civil rights activities after getting his doctorate. Inspired by Gandhi, King practiced peaceful protests, using no violence. He was arrested and his house bombed, but King continued to give his all to fight for the rights of not just black people, but all who were the victims of racism or unfair policies.

Thanks to his hard work, important laws to protect minorities were passed and public opinion in America began to change.
