10月1日 ー 佐賀 Saga ー Saga Light Fantasy Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony for Saga Light Fantasy will be held in Tojimnmachi Greenway Square (2-6-6 Tojin) with the food market available from 17:00 and the ceremony being held at 18:30. Afterwards will follow performances from Sparkle Saxophone Ensemble Team, nano Musical, and Bubble Night Bubble Show.

10月1日~1月12日ー 佐賀 Saga ー Saga Light Fantasy

From late autumn to winter, the city of Saga will be beautifully lit up, centered around Saga City’s central boulevard (approximately 1.6 km of the symbolic road), with spot illuminations at places like Esplatz and 656 Square, voluntary illuminations by stores along the route, and illuminations with the participation of local residents.

10月4日ー 佐賀 Saga ー Saga Shrine Shinko Festival

he Shinko Festival is held to allow the gods to see the city of Saga and to pray for peace and prosperity for the city. A portable shrine carrying the spirits of Lord Nabeshima Naomasa and Lord Naohiro, the gods of Saga Shrine, is accompanied by a procession of people wearing colorful costumes in front and behind, and parades around the shrine accompanied by elegant gagaku music. Local elementary school students also perform dances and Hagakure Taiko drumming as offerings. Food trucks are set up within the grounds of Matsubara Shrine.

10月4日ー 佐賀 Saga ー Yuzu Festival

Saga Yuzu Harvest Festival will be held from 10:00-15:00 at Kawahara Foods Co. Ltd (710-1 Minamizato, Kawasoe-cho, Saga City) Admission is free.

10月7日~11月24日 ー 佐賀 Saga ー Baisa-o 350th Anniversary Exhibition

Baisao, born in Hasuike Domain, a branch of the Saga Domain, is said to have popularized sencha tea. The artist Ito Jakuchu left behind many works throughout his life, including his masterpiece, Dobutsu Sai-e (Colorful Pictures of Animals and Plants). The two artists, who lived in the same era, shared a deep connection. This special exhibition, held in Baisao’s hometown of Saga to commemorate the 350th anniversary of his birth, will feature approximately 130 pieces, primarily relating to Baisao and Jakuchu. In addition to Kyushu’s largest collection of Jakuchu’s works, the exhibition will also feature works by Ike no Taiga and Tanomura Chikuden, who are said to have been influenced by Baisao.

10月11~12日 ー 佐賀 Saga ー Autumn Day Mine-San

A Kaminigai (celebratory event) is held within the shrine grounds to celebrate the annual festival of Saga Shrine and the autumn festival of Matsubara Shrine and to please the great gods.
Various performing arts, including a shrine maiden dance performed by elementary school students, are offered, and many stalls are set up within the grounds. The Niagara fireworks over the Matsubara River are a spectacular sight!

10月18~19日 ー 佐賀 Saga ー Saga Saikou Festival

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Saga Saikou Festival, and in front of the stone walls of Saga Castle, adjacent to the festival venue, there will be an memorial art exhibit unique to Saga. Additionally, a one-night-only Night Museum Session featuring a DJ and live painting will be held in the exhibition room of the Saga Prefectural Museum. Other attractions include live performances by Saga native Kanoe Rena and headliner Fujimaki Ryota (Remioromen), art workshops, and a gastronomy area where you can savor Saga’s cuisine, allowing you to experience the “saikou” with all five senses.
Come and enjoy the best of Saga.

10月22〜23日 ー 武雄市 Takeo ー Takeo Yabusame

Minamoto no Yoritomo visited the Takeo Shrine to pray for victory in wartime, and won after being cheered by a messenger of the shrine – a white egret. Therefore, this horseback archery event is believed to have started in gratitude for the shine!

10月22〜23日 ー 伊万里市 Imari ー Imari Ton Ten Ton Festival

Held since the Edo period, this is one of Japan’s three fighting festivals! The sound of the drums signals the start of the action!

The most beautiful bright golden sunflowers bloom at this time of year – this spot in Miyaki has become very popular for having a fantastic view!
