
6月6〜7日 ー 呼子町 Yobuko Town – Yobuko Otsunahiki
Yobuko’s annual tug of war, designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Japan. The festival is said to have begun when Hideyoshi Toyotomi divided Kiyomasa Kato and Masanori Fukushima’s camps into east and west to raise morale, and had them participate in a tug of war. Participants are divided into two teams, Oka (land) and Hama (sea), who compete to pull a 200-meter rope. If Oka team wins, we are said to have a rich harvest, and a good haul of fish if Hama team are the victors. Anyone can participate and jump in on the day!

6月1〜30日 ー 唐津市 Karatsu City – Forest of Environmental Art Open House
Located halfway up Mt. Sakurei, the “Forest of Maples” was built up over many years, and becomes a beautiful fresh green in Spring and early Summer. Admission is 700円 for adults, and the parking lot is free of charge, with the garden open between 9:00~16:00.

6月20日 ー 佐賀市 Saga City ー Shiroishi Sweet Corn Festival
Local stores will open stalls to sell Shiroishi speciality sweet corn, as well as other agricultural products and goods. The festival will be held in the Saga International Airport 2nd Floor Event Space between 10:00~12:00.
6月20~21日 ー 鹿島市 Kashima City ー Nakakoba Dam Hydrangea Festival
Flowers are in full bloom around the Dam in Yamaura, Kashima city. For no charge you can view and stroll through the flowers – the parking lot is also free! You can access the dam approximately 20 minutes from Hizen Kashima station via car.
6月20日〜8月31日 ー 伊万里市 Imari City ー Nabeshima Clan Kiln Wind Chime Market
Renamed for the 350th anniversary of Nabeshima Pottery, this wind chime festival has taken place in Imari since 2004. The numbered chimes were made from 30 local kilns, with approximately 3,000 pieces on display.
To conclude the festival, the “Night Pottery Market” will be held in conjunction with the Akari Summer Festival, with lanterns illuminating the summer night sky. The festivities will generally be held in Okawachiyama, Imari City
