Now until June 20 – Omura Flower Festival (Nagasaki)

Location: Omura Park

Tons of beautiful flowers on display during spring, especially the huge array of Azaleas blooming right now!

May 9 – June 9 – Nakatsura Firefly Festival  (Nagasaki)

Location: Nakatsura, Hirado

The local community in Nakatsura takes special care to keep the river clean, so that every year many fireflies can be seen along the Nakatsura river, in the south of Hirado. A walking path along the river allows for a pleasant stroll amidst the fireflies.

Saturday May 24 – Fukuoka Big Day Out: Baseball + Beer

Location: Fukuoka Yahoo Dome + Asahi Beer Hall

Join JETs from around the Block for a massive day of baseball, beer hall and clubbing. All baseball tickets have been sold, but you can still join in for the tabe/nomihoudai dinner and clubbing by completing this registration form by Sunday 18th May. Event page.

Sunday May 25 – Kashima Gatalympics (Saga)

Location: Kashima

Ever wanted to take part in crazy ‘Olympic’-style events in the mud? Well each year in Saga you can do just that and have a dirty great time as you compete on/in the mud flats of the Ariake Sea. Unfortunately general registrations are now closed, but there are a couple of spots left in the Saga JET team. Contact Penny Fox ASAP if you are interested in joining. Website.

May 24-25 – Oita AJET Camping Trip

Location: Nobeoka, Miyazai

If you missed out on tickets to the baseball, or would prefer a more outdoorsy kind of weekend, why not kick off summer by joining the Oita crew on their camping trip to the beach! Facebook event.

Location: Kebab Bar Ampoules, Tenjin

Saturday June 14 – One More Saturday Night: Last live performance by Keith Harrison Lauer (Nagasaki)

Location: Raja Live House, Isahaya

Keith’s last live event in Nagasaki, also featuring some of the best ALT and Japanese musical talent from around the area. If you haven’t had the chance to see and hear Keith play, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Facebook event.

Saturday June 28 – Fukuoka AJET Sayonara Party

Location: Sjora (in Tenjin)

Cost will be ￥3000 for early-bird tickets (sold before June 2) or ￥3500 at the door. This includes two hours of nomihoudai and food (appetizers, pizza, pasta and dessert). Plus ones are welcome.
