Karatsu Kunchi!

Balloon Fiesta!
  • When: October 28 to November 6
  • Where: Saga City

Saga Light Fantasy
  • Details: Downtown Saga is decorated in lights every winter. It’s kicked off with a parade on the 28th that also celebrates the Balloon Fiesta and Halloween.
  • When: October 28 to January 9, 17:00 to 24:00
  • Where: Downtown Saga (Chuo Doori, the main street)
Yoshifumi Kondo Ghibli Exhibit
  • When: October 7 to December 4, 9:30 to 18:00 (closed Mondays)
  • Where: Saga Prefectural Art Museum Rooms 2, 3 and 4
  • Cost: 1200 yen (1000 yen if purchased in advance)
Nabeshima Clan Porcelain Exhibit
  • When: August 22 to November 12, 9:30 to 16:00 (closed Mondays and holidays)
  • Where: Chokokan, Saga City
  • Cost: 300 yen
Kiyama Grass Skiing
  • When: September 1 to November 30, 10:00 to 16:00 (rentals only available on Saturdays and Sundays)
  • Where: Kiyama
  • Cost: Sled rentals are 300 yen each
Mifuneyama Fall Leaves Light Up
  • When: November 1 to December 4
  • Where: Mifuneyama Rakuen, Takeo
  • Cost: 600 yen for the evening, 900 yen for an all-day pass
Nabeshima Clan Kilns Fall Festival
  • Details: These shops selling some of the best porcelain around will sell their wares at a discounted price.
  • When: November 1 to 6, 8:30 to 17:00
  • Where: The Okawachiyama area of Imari
Healthy Hiking at Hikosan
  • When: November 6, 8:00 to 18:00
  • Where: Departs from Saga Eki Bus Center at 8:00
  • Costs: 3500 yen to be paid by bank transfer

Yattemyu-da2016 in Okawamachi
  • When: November 6, 9:30 to 19:00
  • Where: Ookawa Taiikukan and Ookawa Undouhiroba, Imari
  • Cost: Bazaar and barbeque cost money

2016 Presentation of Nabeshima Ware
  • Details: Kilns in Ookawachiyama preserve the art of Nabeshima ware, the very best of the best porcelain. In the past Nabeshima ware was reserved only as gifts to the Shogun and Daimyos, and to carry on the tradition, each year a vase is created and presented to an individual or group important to Saga.

Shida Ware no Sato Museum Festival
  • When: November 12 and 13, 9:00 to 17:00
  • Where: Shidayaki no Sato Hakubutsukan, Ureshino
Saga Saikou Fest

  • Where: Saga Castle History Museum
Arita Porcelain Fall Festival
  • When: November 19 to 27 (exact dates and times vary by kiln)
  • Where: Various kilns in Arita

Imari Walk 2016
  • Details: Three courses are available, 20 km, 12 km and 6 km. Registration required by November 11.
  • When: November 23, 8:00 to 15:00
  • Where: Kokumidai Rikujou Kyougijou (Start and goal), Imari
